The Overview

At Robeys they have a different approach to home decor. They do not just sell appliances, they know their customers demand more from them and want to help them build a home of distinction. As a result every member of their team is set one goal – to help customers realise their aspirations for home life.

Based in the Derbyshire countryside, they offer an ever-expanding range of exceptional products from craftsman all over the world. Leading brands stocked include Harrie Leenders, Piazzetta, Rais, Meneghini, Aga, Westahl, Lacanche and Ak47. Robeys pride themselves on excellent customer care, first-rate technical knowledge and highly trained staff that keep customers returning time after time.

In order to offer this high level of service they require hardware and software for day to day processes, quotations, orders and proposals. Without an efficient system setup their reputation was under threat and Robeys were not willing to lower standards for their valued customers.

The Challenge

Robeys were using outdated Windows XP and Office 2003 packages that caused major speed issues internally and as a result they were having to increase their spend on engineering time. Partner managers duly noted that there was an increase in hardware issues over a six month period, and without a solution, this problem was expected to escalate.

Their dated equipment was progressively deteriorating from generic faults and the time and money being wasted on fixes was building up. Operating systems were having to be reinstalled on a regular basis and all of these issues were wasting resources that Robeys wanted to utilise elsewhere.

Moreover, they were experiencing hard disk drive failures. When HDD malfunctions occurred, their stored information became inaccessible and even resulted in loss of data. With additional hassle including constant memory upgrades, and with their Windows XP and Office 2003 due to expire April 2014, they could foresee more issues arising. Robeys not only wanted, but were beginning to need an end-to-end solution, so turned to GCI for peace of mind.

The Solution

GCI proposed Robeys replace all of their current machines with new Windows 8 machines, a big move, but they trusted GCI. Now the use of the new PC’s and Software has decreased the time and money wasted on additional engineering and has revolutionised the way they are working on a day to day basis.

Robeys were one of the first customers to implement a complete roll out of Windows 8 and Office 2013 within their account manager’s client base. The execution went smoothly, Robeys benefited from onsite training from a highly qualified engineer on the new interface and the new operating system is now working to support future scalability.
